AI Visibility Tracker
Ask ChatGPT for the best tools in your category and find out if your brand makes the list. See your exact position, the full highlighted response, and every competitor the AI recommends instead.
GEO and AEO, the New Layer of Search Visibility
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) describe the discipline of earning presence inside AI-generated answers rather than a ranked list of links. When a buyer asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini for the best products in a category, the model synthesizes a short recommendation set from two layers: what it learned during training and what it retrieves from the live web at answer time. Both layers reward the same underlying asset, entity authority. A brand that is consistently described, reviewed, and compared across authoritative sources becomes a stable node in the model's knowledge representation, and stable nodes get recommended.
The commercial stakes are different from classic SEO. A category answer typically names five to ten brands with no page two, so inclusion is close to binary: you are either in the consideration set or invisible. AI referrals also arrive with unusually high intent, because the user has already consumed the comparison inside the answer. Tracking your presence in these responses over time, per category query, is the AI-era equivalent of rank tracking, and the position you hold in the numbered list functions like a SERP position with a steep click-through curve.
How to Become an AI-Recommended Brand
Start with the retrieval layer, because it moves fastest. When web search is enabled, models lean heavily on best-of listicles, comparison pages, and review aggregators to construct their recommendation set. Audit which pages currently rank for "best [your category]" and pursue legitimate inclusion on them: analyst roundups, industry publications, and high-authority affiliate comparisons. Grow verified review volume on the platforms models cite most, G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, and category-specific equivalents, since aggregate ratings frequently appear verbatim in AI answers as the one-line reason attached to each recommendation.
Then strengthen the training layer, which compounds over quarters rather than weeks. Publish original research and benchmark data that other publications cite with your brand name attached, keep Organization and Product schema consistent across your site, and align your brand description everywhere it appears so the model receives one coherent entity narrative instead of fragments. Finally, monitor systematically: run the same category prompt monthly, log whether you appear and at what position, and note which competitors enter or exit the list. Movement in that list is the clearest early signal that your entity authority work is landing, often before it shows up in classic rankings.
